Mysore Ashtanga Yoga

Mysore (Self-Practice) is a traditional method of teaching Ashtanga yoga, a dynamic practice that connects the breath with a progressive series of postures. Originating in the city of Mysore in South India, this method allows for personalised instructions within a group setting.

In a Mysore style class, students practice at their own pace while receiving one-on-one guidance and adjustments from the teacher. This approach combines the benefits of a private session with the energy of a group class, ensuring that each student works at their own pace and receives the personal attention they need. This makes it ideal for both beginners and experienced practitioners looking to deepen their Ashtanga practice.

The Ashtanga system is composed of six sequences: The Primary Series (Yoga Chikitsa), The Intermediate Series (Nadi Shodhana), and The Advanced Series A, B, C, and D (Sthira Bhaga). Each posture prepares the body for the next, developing the strength and balance necessary to progress through the series. Furthermore to  the physical benefits of maintaining a regular practice, one develops a balanced connection between body and mind.

What to expect? How to start?

By joining these sessions, you will start learning the Ashtanga Primary Series, receive support in memorising the sequence, and master various techniques. Most importantly, you will learn how to breathe effectively, leaving each practice feeling energised and balanced.

*Join at any time within this 2-hour period. You are not required to start at the beginning or stay until the end. There is flexibility to practice for as long as you need, whether it's a brief 20-minute session or a longer practice.
